🚃 Transportation:

Upon arrival in Prague, whether by air or train, there are various transportation options available to get you to the city center. If flying in, consider taking the airport bus followed by the metro, which offers a cost-effective way to travel. Alternatively, you can opt for services like Uber or shuttle companies. For train arrivals, Praha hlavni, the main train station, is conveniently located, with metro line C and tram stations nearby.

Ticket purchase

Buy a 24-hour ticket on the PID LĆtačka app šŸ“±, valid for trams, metro, and buses.

Usage

Remember to activate your ticket in advance; the activated page will display a countdown of 2 minutes, which must expire before boarding. ā—ļø

Route planning

Use PID Lƭtačka or Google Maps to find suitable travel routes by entering your departure and destination.

Currency

The currency used in Prague is the Czech koruna (czk), with an exchange rate of approximately 25 czk to $1 US dollar. While there are ATMs scattered throughout the city, it's advisable to exchange currency at banks for better rates. Consider using a credit card with no international transaction fees, as most establishments in Prague accept them. However, having some cash on hand is always a good idea.

Language

Czech is the official language of the Czech Republic, but English is widely spoken in Prague, making navigation, dining, and seeking assistance hassle-free. However, outside the city, English proficiency may vary among locals.

Weather and Attire

During Prague's winter months, temperatures drop significantly. From November to March, the average high temperature hovers around 36 degrees Fahrenheit (about 2 degrees Celsius). For winter visits, it's essential to have a quality jacket, warm leggings to layer under jeans, wool socks, and accessories like hats, gloves, and scarves.

On the other hand, if you're planning a summer trip between May and September, expect daily highs of around 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius). While summers are generally pleasant, evenings can cool down, so it's wise to pack a lightweight jacket.

Regardless of the season, comfortable walking shoes are a must. Prague's streets are cobblestoned, requiring sturdy footwear for exploring the city. In winter, opt for hiking boots, while in summer, a stylish pair of white sneakers will suffice.

Day 1:

My journey begins with a flight from Madrid to Prague. Upon arrival in the afternoon, I'm greeted by the golden hues of the setting sun at LetnĆ” Park.

On the route to the hill, I immerse myself in Prague's artistic flair, exploring the enchanting Jewish quarter and stopping by the iconic Lennon Wall, with a detour to the love lock bridge. Along the way, I stumble upon a charming restaurant overlooking the river, where a whimsical troll and water wheel add a touch of magic to the stroll.

Following a leisurely walk through Kampa Park, where the serene water views and intriguing Babies installation captivate my senses, I make my way to the Lennon Wall. This vibrant mural draws diverse groups of people, each absorbed in different sections.

In the same area, I discover a narrow street that was originally a fire escape but now stands as a testament to Prague's architectural heritage. Vinarna Certovka, with its quaint charm and association with the nearby restaurant, remains a hidden gem waiting to be explored.

Day 2:

I kick off the day by delving into Prague's historic heart, visiting landmarks like the Old Town Square, Astronomical Clock, and Jan Hus Memorial, among others.

Passing by the bustling Charles Bridge, I marvel at its iconic statues and panoramic views, although navigating through the crowds proves to be a challenge.

Opting for an early climb up the hill to Prague Castle, I indulge in a coffee at the renowned Starbucks, savoring the breathtaking vista of the city below.

Descending to the Palace Gardens Below Prague Castle, I find solace amidst the tourists, relishing the serene ambiance and picturesque views.

A visit to the rooftop terrace of Terasa U Prince in Old Town Square provides a perfect opportunity to unwind and soak in the sights while enjoying a cup of coffee.

For lunch, I make a pit stop at the renowned Pork's, indulging in their famous crunchy pork knuckle and pork ribs, followed by a unique treat of beer ice cream.

Day 3:

As my Prague adventure draws to a close, I set off for Vienna, but not before exploring the Prague City Library Book Wall and admiring the modern architectural marvel of the Dancing House.
